“Many spectroscopic applications require high-performance optical fibers to transmit light across a broad spectrum,” says Robert Dauphinais, Business Development Manager at Polymicro Technologies, adding, “Unlike standard optical fibers, which offer a limited transmission spectrum, Polymicro’s proprietary optical fiber is capable of relatively uniform transmission across a wider range of wavelengths.”
Optimized for near-infrared (NIR) attenuation and ultraviolet (UV) solarization resistance to enhance transmission across a broader spectral range, Polymicro’s silica-based FBPI optical fiber leads the industry with its panoramic spectroscopy and sensory analysis. Available in core diameters from 50 μm to 600 μm, the low-OH pure silica core broadspectral FBPI optical fiber features a drastically reduced content of UV defects and other UV absorption centers. With NIR wavelengths exceeding 2,100 nm, the attenuation of Polymicro's FBPI fiber is equivalent to that of standard NIR fibers with a low-OH silica core and fluorine-doped cladding. Offering solarization characteristics comparable to standard low-OH fibers optimized for UV radiation with high radiation resistance, the FBPI fiber supports UV transmissions as low as 200 nm.
Polymicro's tough and flexible HSW fiber for CO2 lasers can be optimized for infrared wavelengths from 3 μm to 20 μm in a wide range of applications, including replacement of high-cost articulated and rigid arms in medical and dental lasers, industrial cutting tools, and laser printing and labeling systems. With high laser power up to 100 W, the hollow silica construction simplifies final termination, reduces abrasion, and provides robust damping in harsh environments. The biocompatible fiber geometry can be easily adapted, enabling the development of customized solutions. Available with custom shock absorbers, the HSW fiber features removable and reusable Poly-Lok™ connectors for prototyping.
Molex and Polymicro facilities are certified to ISO 9001, 13485, and 14001.
