Ecoslim™ utilizes the new generation of Easenet microducts, made from 90% recycled high-density polyethylene, reducing the use of virgin plastics by up to 50% compared to conventional duct solutions. In specific cases already implemented in the Netherlands, 14/10 mm ducts have been replaced with smaller 10/7 mm diameter ducts for the installation of Sirocco HD and Sirocco Extreme cables with up to 192 optical fibers. This allows for longer lengths of both cable and duct to be stored on a single drum, resulting in a reduction of up to 60% in the number of drums, as well as a 60% reduction in the number of truckloads and warehouse space.
All these improvements, compared to traditional 14/10 mm diameter microducts using a larger fiber cable, make Ecoslim™ an undisputed champion in CO2 emission reduction. Furthermore, the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is also available for independent comparison with conventional networks, demonstrating up to a 50% CO2 reduction across the value chain and making Ecoslim™ one of the first optical network components with an EPD.
