Siemens Enterprise Communications chooses BT for its international data network

BT has been selected for a three-year period to install and operate Siemens Enterprise Communications' (SEN) international data network . The agreement includes more than 230 sites in 45 countries.
The converged network solution is based on BT's MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) technology. This technology allows SEN to manage its data communications on a single platform and reduce costs by 30 percent.
The agreement includes internet access for more than 10,000 users via BT's MobileXpress, enabling employees to access the corporate network while traveling or at home. Firewall management and email services are also included.
Guenther Ernst, chief information officer at SEN, stated, “BT has worked closely with Siemens Enterprise Communications for a long time as a partner and has extensive experience in providing global managed data services. BT has a comprehensive portfolio for monitoring and controlling its services, allowing SEN to maintain control over its outsourced services at all times.”
Luis Álvarez, President of BT Global Services for EMEA & Latin America, explained: “I am very proud that a major client like Siemens Enterprise Communications has once again placed its trust in us. This agreement demonstrates that, in addition to network data communications services, global companies also value security services and solutions for employees working remotely. BT has the capacity to act as a single provider.”
