With a new initiative, the FTTH Council Europe aims to help all companies involved in the FTTH value chain to accurately measure their carbon footprint and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

The FTTH Council Europe, as a non-profit organization that brings together all stakeholders in the FTTH value chain, claims to be uniquely positioned to propose a platform where companies can share ESG best practices, create a database with detailed information on the carbon intensity of all products (essential for the accuracy of Scope 3 reporting), and offer preferential access to consultant services and a tool for organizations measuring their carbon emissions for the first time.

CAE Groupe, a French company specializing in cabling and connectivity solutions for industrial markets, smart buildings, and the events sector, announces the acquisition of OPENETICS, a Spanish company specializing in the manufacture of structured cabling technologies and solutions, operating in more than 50 countries. With the acquisition of OPENETICS, CAE Groupe consolidates its international development strategy with a new acquisition in Spain, leveraging OPENETICS' innovative solutions in the field of information and communication technologies.

Celestia TTI and Indra, as the national industrial coordinator of the NGWS/FCAS program in Spain, have reached a collaboration agreement to jointly develop next-generation antennas that will allow the design of advanced communication systems for the FCAS.

Both companies will work more specifically on multipurpose antennas capable of covering different needs and bands, both civilian and military, and establishing links with satellite networks in geostationary, high, medium, and low orbits. Ten 160 kVA SLC X-PERT systems will form the core of the new Echelon-DUB10 data center, a power and data infrastructure project that boasts a 90 MW IT load capacity and a 120 MW power generation center. Nokia has announced that GFiber Labs has successfully tested broadband speeds of 50Gbps over its existing fiber network. Nokia today announced the deployment, in partnership with Global Fiber Peru, of a new, future-proof, underwater fiber optic broadband network in the Amazon rainforest, helping to bridge the digital divide. Phlux Technology, a manufacturer of avalanche photodiode (APD) infrared sensors, Airbus Defence and Space, and the University of Sheffield have embarked on a €500,000 project to build more efficient free-space optical communications (FSOC) satellite terminals. 200,000 homes in the Balearic Islands will soon have access to ultra-fast fiber optic connectivity thanks to a new €5 million project between Slovenian company Kontron and Fibwi. 100,000 homes in Mallorca will be among the first to connect. Europe's largest internet exchange (IX), DE-CIX Frankfurt, has broken a new data throughput record. During the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg match on April 16 at 9:21 PM (CEST), over 17 terabits per second (Tbit/s) (specifically, 17.09 Tbit/s) of data flowed through the IX for the first time. 17 terabits per second is equivalent to 5.7 million HD videos streamed simultaneously. In an analog world, 17 terabits per second is equivalent to approximately 3.9 billion A4 pages of text—a stack over 420 kilometers high, almost 50 times the height of Mount Everest.

Smartoptics has announced that Peru IX and PIT Colombia have been upgraded to 400G, becoming one of the first to do so in Latin America.

Peru IX was looking for a cost-effective way to interconnect two data centers in Lima using a diverse fiber optic route. The chosen solution centers on the Smartoptics DCP-404 muxponder and DCP-1203 transponder paired with a 400G open line and optical system.
