As NB-IoT security standards are still being discussed, this G+D solution provides MNOs and application providers with a complete secure network and a comprehensive data communication implementation. For MNOs, G+D's low-dependency, standalone SIM-based solution is a faster, easier, and more cost-effective way to introduce NB-IoT security than by upgrading or modifying the core MNO network. The complete solution relies on G+D's IoT SIM cards (IoT Advance S and IoT Advance M), a secure client application, and an end-to-end secure server. Deriving and managing the encryption key within the secure SIM element eliminates the need to redesign the NB-IoT device's circuit board.
For application providers, G+D's security solution is cheaper and faster than redesigning, remanufacturing, and replacing existing NB-IoT devices. Relying on the NB-IoT SIM card's security-by-design solution eliminates the need for each application provider to implement individual, uncoordinated, and disconnected security solutions. Furthermore, application providers can be confident that data transmitted over an NB-IoT MNO network using G+D's solution is completely secure, tamper-proof, and unreadable by anyone else.
For consumers, the solution offers protection against attackers attempting to falsify sensor data from IoT devices or send illegitimate commands to take control of IoT devices with criminal intent.
The SIM-based plug-and-play solution developed by G+D Mobile Security is pre-integrated with leading NB-IoT chip manufacturers. The concept requires no additions or changes to core network nodes and can be deployed today in any NB-IoT network, anywhere. Any standard changes or modifications can be easily handled by removing and inserting a new NB-IoT SIM card, using a secure and trusted component with well-established customization and management processes.
