Verimatrix has created a progressive IoT solution that extends the benefits of the same hardware-based device security regime offered by Verimatrix's VCAS™ revenue security solution for pay TV, such as device integrity and secure authentication support. Vtegrity can also leverage Verspective™ cloud-based analytics components to enable secure data collection and valuable insights into behaviors in compliance with new regulatory frameworks.
1. Device Integrity: Ensures that devices and the software running on them are not compromised in any way at any stage of their lifecycle. This includes a trusted hardware base, secure boot, and secure software update techniques.
2. Communications Integrity: Prevents intrusion by unauthorized clients or users and ensures that only explicitly identifiable devices can join a given IoT network by providing secure device certification and authentication. This communication link between devices and the network is protected to prevent data interception or alteration during transit.
3. Service Integrity: Protects against emerging threats and imminent attacks through proactive threat monitoring and tamper detection. Responses to emerging threats can be addressed with a trusted device code update system.
These fundamental security elements align with the initial requirements of the NTIA (US National Telecommunications and Information Administration) in its efforts to update and patch IoT security. The working group's overall goal is to foster better security within the ecosystem by addressing technical and regulatory issues.
Verimatrix has been able to leverage a large portion of its existing partner ecosystem to support the IoT market, including device manufacturers, code update services, and IoT cloud application providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and system-on-a-chip (SoC) providers.
