Antenna technologyMobliquA technology has been designed to improve impedance bandwidth in any application with a wireless interface antenna, including mobile phones, smartphones, portable televisions, and standard antennas in industrial systems.

“Traditional passive antenna structures rely on meander-shaped antenna patterns, which are limited by manufacturing tolerances and mechanical characteristics. MobliquA technology simplifies the mechanical design of robust antennas and minimizes the work required to repeatedly retune the antenna during each build cycle,” explains Morten Christensen, Director of RF Research at Molex. He adds, “Compared to standard systems, such as L- or F-type antennas, this technology provides up to a 70% improvement in impedance bandwidth without increasing antenna volume or decreasing radiation efficiency.”.

Suitable for small devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, MobliquA technology offers a robust, multifunctional platform that supports single- and dual-feed RF architectures within the same antenna structure. The dual-feed configuration can provide at least 20 dB of isolation between input ports while maintaining optimal bandwidth characteristics.

Good isolation and excellent bandwidth simplify the optimization of antenna impedances to suit different RF machines, reducing current consumption and increasing power flow efficiency.

MobliquA technology offers a high degree of immunity when metallic objects are inserted into the antenna. Furthermore, it allows the use of grounded or RF-disconnected components, such as the grounded connector housing, as an integrated element of the antenna system. The technology also provides excellent ESD protection at the front end, thanks to its advanced power supply techniques, which include direct grounding of the antenna elements.
