The generators offer a frequency tuning resolution of 0.01 Hz. According to the manufacturer's specifications, they exhibit a typical phase noise of -117 dBc/Hz for a 1 GHz carrier and a 20 kHz offset.
The output level starts at -110 dBm and reaches a specified value of up to +13 dBm, while the maximum level can be set up to +20 dBm. The typical output level accuracy is equal to or less than 0.7 dB.
In addition to continuous wave (CW) signal generation, the SSG3000X Plus incorporates amplitude (AM), frequency (FM), and phase modulation. Internal, external, or a combination of both modulation sources can be used for these functions.
The devices also support pulse modulation with an on/off ratio of at least 68 dBc. SIGLENT also offers an optional pulse train generator for configurations requiring pulsed RF signals.
For applications with modulated signals, the SSG3000X-IQE Plus versions incorporate external IQ modulation. In combination with a baseband IQ source, such as an SDG6000X series generator, they can generate IQ modulated signals with RF bandwidths up to 200 MHz, according to data provided by SIGLENT.
This configuration can also be used to generate two-tone signals intended for third-order interception (TOI) testing, a measure used to characterize the nonlinear behavior of RF devices and systems.
The series also allows the connection of power sensors via USB. This feature makes it possible to use power measurements to adjust the generator's output based on the level recorded by the device under test (DUT). This allows for the accounting of losses introduced by cables and other components located between the generator and the DUT.
The SSG3000X Plus features a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen and supports keyboard and mouse input. It can also be controlled remotely via a web browser from computers and mobile devices.
USB and LAN interfaces are included as standard. Optional features from SIGLENT include GPIB connectivity and a frequency reference based on an oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO).
With the SSG3000X Plus series, SIGLENT is progressively replacing the previous SSG3000X platform within its range of RF signal generators. The new models are geared towards training, electronic development, component characterization, diagnostics, and testing in manufacturing environments.
