Ethernet-APL offers data transmission speeds of up to 10 Mbps, a shielded bi-wire connection for safely carrying power and data over the same cable, and cable lengths of up to 1,000 meters. Intrinsic safety is also built in, including a design that limits power voltage and current to eliminate the risk of sparking, allowing Ethernet-APL to be used in hazardous environments.

The FSV400 Vortex and FSS400 Swirl flow meters can be configured via Ethernet-APL using any standard web browser and industrial protocols such as PROFINET and TCP/IP, without the need for tools, drivers, or specific software.
Ethernet-APL provides a high-speed channel for process data, as well as configuration and diagnostic information, and offers an easily scalable solution for connecting field devices to a control system.

Swirl and Vortex flow meters with Ethernet-APL, designed to measure volumetric, mass, and energy flow rates, as well as process temperature, expand operator capabilities by enabling them to make operational decisions and perform predictive maintenance based on real-time data, reducing errors and downtime.
Ethernet-APL is combined with ABB's Ability™ SmartMaster suite to give plant operators the ability to collect data from hundreds or even thousands of devices, providing access to a wide range of device and process data. SmartMaster is a platform that manages asset performance and enables troubleshooting, remote diagnostics, non-invasive process analysis, and many other functions by combining operational data, engineering data, and IT services.
