Plug-in hybrid starter controller
The new variants of Phoenix Contact's Contactron hybrid starter controllers allow for quick and easy integration into common fieldbus systems such as Profibus, Profinet, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
Profienergy, saving energy during production breaks
Siemens' Industry Automation division announces the launch of the first products in the Profienergy range: the Simatic ET 200S PM-E RO power module for the Simatic ET 200S High Feature decentralised peripheral system and function blocks for Simatic controllers.
This power module allows for the timely disconnection of any inputs and outputs of the Simatic ET 200S High Feature distributed I/O system, thereby disconnecting the power supply to the associated loads. The new function blocks enable the implementation of power management for complete process units. Based on the new Profienergy profile specified by the Profibus Users Association (PNO) and the innovative I-Device (Intelligent Device) functionality of Profinet, they allow for I/O-level communication between a CPU and other higher-level or central controllers. These function blocks are compatible with automation configurations implemented using Simatic CPU 315-2 PN/DP, CPU 317-2 PN/DP, and CPU 319-3 PN/DP controllers, as well as distributed I/O systems with CPU functionality such as the Simatic ET 200S and ET 200pro.
The Profienergy profile, standardized by the PNO, is non-proprietary and multi-device, enabling the disconnection of power from a central controller via Profinet communication to individual devices or entire areas of a production line without the need for external hardware. During production breaks, loads are disconnected in a coordinated manner from a central point, while other automation components, such as those responsible for safety tasks, can continue operating. At the end of the break, the loads are reconnected in a coordinated manner.
