The IBH Link UA is configured using STEP7 or the Siemens TIA Portal. No special software is required.

Thus, the IBH Link UA can be seamlessly integrated into the PLC project. Variable definitions are transferred from the programming tool to the IBH Link UA via Ethernet. Variable attributes (e.g., write protection or limits) are defined directly within the PLC project.

This allows symbolic access to variables and data block structures. Communication with the S5 and S7 PLCs is established over Ethernet. There are three Ethernet ports for the machine level on the IBH Link UA and one for the supervisory level. Only OPC access is permitted at the supervisory level. An integrated firewall separates the two levels. The Ethernet ports can be configured using a web browser.

Characteristics:

• OPC UA server for easy connection to MES, ERP, and SAP systems
• OPC UA client functions for the S7 PLC to connect to external OPC UA server systems
• 4 Ethernet ports with firewall → clear separation of machine and supervisory levels
• Scalable security levels through digitally signed certificate exchange
• Connection to S7 PLCs via S7 TCP/IP or IBH Link S7++
• Connection to S5 PLCs via IBH Link S5++
