Swisscom Broadcast has selected Nokia to deploy a nationwide drone-as-a-service network across Switzerland. The deployment of 300 Nokia Drone-in-a-Box units is planned to enable emergency response, perimeter protection, and infrastructure inspection, helping to maintain the safety of public safety workers.

This will be Nokia Drone Networks' second nationwide project, following the Citymesh deployment in Belgium. It will support Switzerland's public safety and Industry 4.0 efforts and highlight Nokia's strength in modernizing digital infrastructure projects and utilizing mission-critical industrial edge computing (MXIE) supported by 3GPP technologies for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) autonomous operation.

Last year, Sonepar signed an agreement with Nexans for the collection and recycling of cable at all of the B2B distributor's branches and logistics centers in Spain.
