Significant growth is also expected in other leading countries in the region, such as Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan, as mobile operators and providers adopt the additional capacity and improved performance of next-generation broadband services offered by LTE. Access to high-speed LTE-enabled broadband will facilitate a wide range of socioeconomic benefits in Asia-Pacific, fostering education, improving healthcare, increasing trade, and driving innovation. Crucially, establishing widespread broadband connectivity across the region will sustain economic development through advanced levels of productivity.
“LTE technology continues to experience strong growth in the Asia-Pacific region, with NTT DoCoMo and CSL clearly intending to launch commercial LTE networks this year,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “An additional 36 LTE networks are currently planned in the region. This reflects the sustained increase in consumer data demand, the lack of fixed-line infrastructure in many parts of the region, and the need to provide the network capacity necessary to enable next-generation mobile services.”.
“The introduction of high-speed LTE will increase demand for mobile internet and mobile broadband in Asia-Pacific. Among many possible adoption scenarios, the rollout of digital dividend spectrum will play a significant role in connecting these consumers to these new networks,” said Joss Gillet, senior analyst, Wireless Intelligence.
