With the new version 5.4 of the software, the actual application traffic throughput on the Stonesoft 3206 and 5206 high-performance appliances has been increased to 100 Gbps. For example, handling small data packets has increased by over 400% to meet the requirements of large organizations, service providers, telecom operators, and others. New applications are available for Stonesoft Security Engine, the next-generation firewall/VPN and intrusion prevention system (IPS).
The new Stonesoft FW-5206 application has been tested using Ixia's BreakingPoint FireStorm, achieving a bandwidth of 119 Gbps over Layer 3 traffic and up to 24 million concurrent TCP connections over Layer 4 traffic. With this high performance, Stonesoft is targeting the service provider market, which has been dominated until now by hardware-based firewalls.
