HomeGrid Forum has announced that Signify has joined the organization to expand the innovation and deployment of G.hn technology for Light Fidelity (LiFi) applications. Trulifi by Signify offers a range of LiFi systems that ensure a fast, secure, and reliable wireless connection. LiFi is a wireless communication technology that uses LEDs to transmit data at high speed in the visible, ultraviolet, and infrared light spectra.

The mioty® communication technology enables the simultaneous transmission of data packets from a large number of sensor nodes over long distances and is particularly energy efficient. Until now, the deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT) on a terrestrial network was limited to a range of up to 15 kilometers.

Nokia announced today that it will provide Red Eléctrica de España (REE) with an IP/MPLS network and a DWDM (Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing) optical transport network, which will modernize REE's existing network. REE is the Spanish Transmission System Operator (TSO) responsible for the national transmission of electricity, including to the Canary and Balearic Islands. Its network of 800 sites is used to control and manage the national transmission grid.

Nokia today announced the world’s first deployment of multiple AI use cases delivered via the public cloud, in collaboration with Microsoft. By integrating Nokia’s security framework with the Microsoft Azure digital architecture, communications service providers (CSPs) can securely incorporate AI into their networks nine times faster than using a private cloud and scale rapidly across their entire network. AI use cases are essential for CSPs to manage the business complexity of 5G and cloud networks and will help accelerate digital transformation.

Nokia AVA AI as a Service enables CSPs to deploy AI use cases quickly and securely, completing data setup in four weeks. By integrating Nokia’s security framework with the Microsoft Azure digital architecture, deployment is significantly faster, while eliminating concerns about data sovereignty and security and ensuring compliance with global regulations. The Azure platform enables Nokia's AI deployments to be delivered quickly and allows CSPs to scale rapidly across multiple clusters.

After initial data setup, CSPs can deploy additional AVA AI use cases within a week and scale resources up or down as needed within a day across multiple network clusters. Nokia's security framework on Azure ensures data segregation and isolation to provide the same level of security as a private cloud.

This is stated in the provisional resolution of the 2021 New Generation Broadband Extension Program (PEBA-NGA), published today. These 12 projects will generate investments of €66.02 million. The Program is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

On 25 March 2021, Member States, in close collaboration with the Commission, agreed on a connectivity toolbox , in accordance with the Connectivity Recommendation of 18 September 2020. The toolbox consists of a set of best practices considered to be the most efficient in enabling and encouraging operators to deploy very high capacity networks.
