1. Implement smart electrical distribution units
Intelligent rack power distribution units ( iPDUs) are an effective way to monitor devices in the rack and determine exactly how much power is being consumed. They offer real-time remote power monitoring of current (amps), voltage, power (kVA, kW), and energy consumption (kWh) with an accuracy of +/- 1% down to the individual output level.
2. Use Environmental Sensors in Data Centers.
Data centers tend to overcool their facilities by several degrees, all as a precaution. However, Gartner has determined that environmental sensors can save up to four percent in energy costs for every degree of upward change in the base temperature.
3. Implement DCIM Energy Monitoring Software. DCIM energy monitoring software is n't just a recommendation; it's a must. That's because energy monitoring software provides real-time power analysis and energy trends over time, allowing you to identify wasted capacity in the form of underutilized servers.
